Mushroom & Peas Pilau

Mushroom and peas in rice? What more do you want?! I love this super simple pilau recipe with mushrooms that is a great dish for vegetarians and to use up left over rice.

  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 tbsp cumin seeds
  • 1  medium onion, chopped
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • Salt to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 cup boiled peas
  • 1 tbsp pilau masala
  • ½ tbsp turmeric powder
  • cups Daawat Basmati Rice, cooked
  • Coriander leaves, for garnishing


  • Heat oil in a pot and add the cumin seeds. Once they splatter, add the onions and cook for 2 minutes.
  • Add the mushrooms, salt and pepper and stir. Add the peas, pilau masala and turmeric powder and stir.
  • Add the cooked rice and stir. Let cook for 3-5 minutes or until heated through. Sprinkle coriander over the rice and serve.
